Weekly Round-up

We hope that you all had a great half term and first week back to remote learning (or school for the key worker children). It has been a week of positives with the news that school will be open again for everyone on 8th March. We are really looking forward to this and also being able to see you on our second ‘live’ session next Thursday. It was great to see those who were able to attend but apologies to those of you who had some technical difficulties joining. Fingers crossed that this doesn’t happen next week.

Thank you ever so much for the emails we have received of children’s work and also the work that has been uploaded directly into Google Classroom. Please remember to ‘Hand-in’ the work, even if you haven’t got anything to upload.

In English this week, the children have started to look at a new text ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, a well-loved traditional tale. We have seen some lovely work inspired by this story. This has linked with our work in Guided Reading, where we have been looking at a different traditional tale – The Three Little Pigs.

In maths, the children have been looking at ordering numbers to 50 and counting in 2s and 5s.

The key worker children took part in Paul Wood’s karate session on Tuesday and it was good to see some familiar faces at home joining in too. We have planted our kidney beans and look forward to seeing what happens! How did you get on at home? We have also started DT this term and this week we discussed our favourite sandwiches in preparation for designing and making our own.

Please remember to try and keep as active as you can. What have you done this week to keep active?

Weekly Round-Up

Well done for another fantastic week of learning. We’ve finally come to the end of the term after a challenging 6 weeks. We are so impressed with all of the work you’ve done and sent in. You should all be very proud of your efforts.

In English this week, the children have continued their descriptive writing work by creating their very own Wonderlands. They have thought of some fantastic adjectives and noun phrases and have put all their ideas and thoughts together to create a postcard. We really enjoyed reading these!

In maths, the children have continued to look at numbers to 50. They have been find one more and one less, looking at tens and ones and comparing these using greater than, less than and equal to. We’ve been so impressed with the objects you’ve found around your homes to help you represent numbers to 50, including lego, pencils, teddies and toy cars!

In Guided Reading, we’ve been focusing on comprehension skills. We’ve been looking closely at lots of different texts and answering different types of questions. The children have done a fantastic job at spotting the evidence in the text!

We can see that the children have been working hard at the afternoon activities too. We’ve seen some fantastic artwork inspired by Wassily Kandinsky and the children in school have had lots of fun programming Billy the BeeBot to collect toys! In Georgraphy, the children have been learning about the different continents and oceans and have produced some lovely work on this.

Well done for getting our and about using Street Tag. We are still top of the learderboard! Below are the activities Street Tag will be offering to all the players to keep active indoors and outdoors during the half-term break

Thank you again for everything you’ve been doing, both at home and in school. Now go and have a rest! We hope you enjoy your half term and you find lots of time to do things that you enjoy.

Weekly Round-up

Well done everyone, it’s been another busy week. Remember to give yourselves a big pat on the back because you are ALL doing an amazing job at home, in difficult circumstances.

Thank you ever so much for the emails we have received of children’s work and also the work that has been uploaded directly into Google Classroom. Please remember to ‘Hand-in’ the work, even if you haven’t got anything to upload, otherwise it looks like you’re not accessing the work. If you haven’t sent any examples of work in please try and do so. If you are unsure how to upload the images please drop us an email and we can help you. You don’t have to upload every piece of work but it is important that we are able to see what the children are achieving and then we can share it on here!

In English this week the children have continued to explore ‘The Story of Frog Belly Rat Bone’. We have seen some fantastic, descriptive writing, using lots of adjectives and noun phrases. We can see that there is a great deal of creativity in the classes – brilliant job. Remember, when you’re find it a little tricky, break it into small steps and use that  ‘I can do it…I will try to do it…I will do my best,’ attitude.

In maths we have started looking at numbers to 50. The children have been looking at ways of representing numbers and consolidating their understanding of the value of each digit. We’re very impressed with all the different objects the children found to represent the tens and ones!

We can see that the children have been working hard with the afternoon activities too. The key worker children really enjoyed giving Billy the BeeBot instructions to fetch things and we’ve seen lots of fantastic art work that has been done at home.

Please remember to try and keep as active as you can. What have you done this week to keep active?
