Weekly Round-up

It has been a short and busy week!

We had lots of fun following instructions on how to make Easter egg nests and we hope the children enjoyed eating these when they got home! The children also enjoyed their Easter scavenger hunt!

Well done to all of the children who created an Easter T-shirt-it was lovely to see them parading on the playground. Such a lot of wonderful creativity on display.

Also, ‘Congratulations’ to everyone that took part in Street Tag and helped the school achieve the winning position. We are really proud of you all.

We would like to introduce you to Bug Club. This is an online reading scheme that gives children an opportunity to read books personalised to their reading ability. The Bug Club pupil world is where your children log in to read books allocated to them, whether at home or in class. It is also where they can access the rewards they earn when they complete all the activities in a book.  Well done to the children who have manage to log on and have even read some books! Please see the email from Integris to access the log in information if you’re still unsure of what to do.

Weekly Round up

The children have worked hard this week writing their instructions on ‘How to plant a pea seed, which culminated in them actually planting their seeds on Friday! Hopefully with some sunshine and water they will grow as well as some of the bean seeds did that we have seen this week.

In Maths we have continued with some work on addition and subtraction but we have looked at the concept through problem solving. The children have been looking at the important words and phrases that help them decide whether it is a addition or subtraction number sentence.

In reading we have been focusing on individual reading, since our return to school to ensure all children are on the correct level. Bug club links into our school reading colours so provides extra books for you to read.. If you use the bug club books please write these in your reading diary so they will be added to our reading raffle count on Friday.

We were very excited as we had a visit from the chicks this week! We watched them last week as they hatched and this week when they came for a visit they were trying to fly!!

Also, we have been busy putting together our Easter Sharing film, which you will be able to watch next week-you will receive a link to view this.

Weekly Round-up

It has been another busy week; the children have been working hard and enjoying their social time with their friends.

This week in English we have continued looking at instructions with a focus on the different features and imperative verbs. The children had a great time instructing their teachers to make a sandwich. Miss Worsfold got very messy as he class forgot to instruct her to use the knife to spread the butter!!

In Maths the children have been revisiting place value to 50 and comparing numbers using less than, greater than and equal to. We have done lots of active maths outside and around the classroom and it has been great to see lots of smiles and teamwork!

The reading raffle has started up again this week and was won by a child in class 3! Please remember to try and listen to your child read at least three times each week and record this in their reading diary. We take the reading diaries in on a Friday morning and those who have read at least three times get entered into the KS1 reading raffle. The raffle is drawn on a Thursday morning during the KS1 assembly and the winner selects a book to keep.

PE

PE kit days for Class 3 are Wednesday and Thursday.

Pe kit days for Class 4 are Monday and Wednesday.

Weekly Round-up

What a great week it has been to welcome the children back to school, despite the not so brilliant weather! The children came in happily on Monday and were pleased to see their friends…and us! We have thoroughly enjoyed having the class back and being able to talk to them and listen to them in person.

Thank you again for your support during home learning and for adhering to the routines as we return to school. Just a reminder that if you need to speak to us, please call the office or drop an email to the office as we can’t talk on the door at the beginning or the end of the day – this can hinder the flow of adults leaving the premises.

This week in English the children have been introduced to our text for our work on instruction writing. – The Runaway Pea! This will link in with our DT project. We have had lots of fun reading and acting out the story and identifying verbs.

In Maths the children are revisiting place value to 50, identifying the value of each digit and how numbers can be represented to ensure it sticks in their ‘sticky knowledge’.

Hopefully you will have heard of ‘Bug Club’, which is a great resource that can be accessed at home. You should have received a username and password for your child before half term but will be sending out some more information soon.

Remember to write in your child’s reading record when you hear them read as the reading raffle will start again next week. For your child to be entered they need to be heard at least three times per week.

As part of our science focus this week we have been thinking about ‘evergreen’ and ‘deciduous’ trees. I wonder if your child can tell you the difference?
