In English, the children have worked hard on their letters to Mr Grinling this week and are looking forward to ‘posting’ them next week. These will be sent home for you to have a look at. Their letter writing has included many processes, including looking at an example of a letter, use of the conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘because’, questions and expanded noun phrases.
In Maths, the children have continued to look at fractions – finding quarters of shapes and amounts.
We had a real treat on Wednesday afternoon – we were invited to watch Year 6’s dress rehearsal of their Indian dances. The children choreographed their own dance pieces which was very much enjoyed; some of the audience joined in trying to copy the moves. It was great fun.
The children have all got a username and password for Bug Club, which is an invaluable reading resource. Please support your child in accessing this resource and if you have any difficulties please get in touch.
We hope you’re still getting out to add to our Street Tag score, despite the less than desirable weather! Thank you for taking part.
PARENTS EVENING: We are looking forward to catching up with you on Monday/Tuesday to discuss your child, you should have received your slips with the times to expect a phone call – be aware that this will display as ‘no caller ID’.
CLUB LETTERS: We have put a reply slip in the children’s’ book bags who have applied for an after school or lunchtime club. After school clubs start straight after school and run until 3.50pm. Relax Kids Club will be Tuesday lunchtimes and Girls Football/Lego Club will be on Tuesdays after school.
SNACKS: These should be healthy; a piece of fruit or cereal bar.
FOOTWEAR: Children should wear SCHOOL SHOES on the days that they don’t do PE, which will be three days of the week. On PE days children are allowed to wear trainers.
PE kit days: Wednesday and Thursday
We will keep these useful active links on the blog-could be something for the weekend.

We will leave this information here each week for easy access.
Please remember to reinforce the correct pencil grip at home; the correct letter and number formation.
This video shows how the children are taught in Foundation using the Read Write Inc scheme but please note that we use a ‘curly’ k and the ‘f’ has a longer tail that carries on below the line.

The following video will reinforce the correct number formation for 0-9
We hope you have a great weekend.
